Subject: Three Problems
Hello to the community!

Being fairly new in this matter, I got three problems with the staff directory extension.

Frame: Version 1.1.1, FE_User-option not activated, German language version

1.
If I choose department sorting in List oder Column view, there is no obvious second sorting rule (tried with setting the constant for the second sorting to "display order" or "last name" - no visible result).

2.
Creating new or editing existing staff records, there is no field "connected with fe_user" (I saw this field, when for a short time i enabled the FE_User-option in the extension setup.)
That is probably why there is no edit button displayed, even if there is a "normal" fe-user and an WEC-staff-user with the same name.
So: no front-end-editing by the staff members (the option is of course activated on die Admin-tab).

3.
The encrypted e-Mail-Links donīt work: on the status-line the Java-script-name is shown and the mail-adress (not encrypted!) but there is no reaction to a mouse-click on the mail-symbol.
Same with the mail-address on the single page.

May be you can help?

Thank you very much and greetings from Hamburg/Germany.

Hi Klaus,

We released a new Staff Directory version that will fix #3. It has many other updates too. It was released as version 1.2.0, and then an upgrade was done for 1.2.1 which had a few minor fixes.

As for #1, you should be able to set it through Template->Constant Editor->plugin.tx_WECStaff Directory_pi1. Go to Sorting for Dept and then choose a value. You can also set this by plugin.tx_wecstaffdirectory_pi1.sortFieldForDept in the Constants section of the +ext template.

As for #2, if you do not associate fe_users with staff, there is no way to know if a user can edit a record or not. You only know by the association of fe_user login = staff fe_user. If you are wanting a fe_users to edit a record, but NOT associate the fe_user account with staff record account, let me know why you would not want to have the fe_user data different than the staff data? Perhaps I can enable that but not sure of the need.

I hope this is helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi Dave,

thank you.

As for #3:
This is funny: the e-mail-icon is working now. But there is not - in contradiction to my posting - any way to encrypt the mail link, right. I thought there was such a feature to prevent e-mail-grabbing, but I must have seen it in the other staff directory extension I looked at....

As for #2:
Now that I have updated, I will try again.

As for #1:
May be I shall come back to that matter.

Thank you

Klaus

Subject: Sorting problem when more than one department
Hi,

I just found out that the sorting problem in #1 only appears with persons who are in two (or more?) departments, using the pipe-symbol.

By the way: on the Ginghamsburg-Example the departments do not appear in alphabetical order. How can I control the departments diplay order?

Greetings

Klaus

Hi Klaus,

To get the email protection, you need to add config.spamProtectEmailAddresses = 1 in your root/home template. This will then offer your email protection in all email addresses that TYPO3 processes throughout your site. This email link changed in latest version(s) of Staff Directory.

As for how Ginghamsburg did their Staff Directory department sorting, I added a "feature" so that you can put a # in front of the department to do sorting. So 1-Pastors, 2-Admin, 3-Student Ministry, etc. sort it. And to do multiple departments, you could do 1-Pastors|2-Admin. The thing with doing this is that every department needs a number in front of it. With the Ginghamsburg staff of 50+ it was a little work, but once done it is set.
