My staff directory is set to sort ascending by last name. However the first 15 or so entries sort ascending by first name and then it switches with the last 11 or so sorting by last name. Any ideas why this might be happening?http://dev.gracefellowship.com/about_us/the_basics/staff_directory/

Hi Sandra,

Usually what happens in this case is that the first name and last name fields are not filled in. It can be a little confusing because there is a Name field, First Name field, and Last Name field. If the Name field is just filled in but you try to sort by First or Last Name, it will not be correct.

So to me it seems that this is likely your problem. I would look at all your staff records. If you have the Frontend Users linked with staff records, then you may need to look at those records too.

Also, be sure that your Staff Directory is updated to the latest version. You can check by going to Ext Manager->Installed Extensions. Then go to Get TER2 Updates to see. The latest version as of today is v1.2.1. Earlier versions had some issues with sorting that were fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the Staff Directory and FE User records, and neither place has individual fields for First and Last Name... So I checked my version of the Staff Directory and I only have version v1.1.1. However, I am a little new to this and do not know how to get the v1.2.1 update and install it. Could you point me to the right documentation for this?

I updated the extension and now I have the first and last name fields in the FE user area. Correcting the empty fields is working to fix the sort problem.
