Subject: Staff Can't Edit from Frontend
I have installed and set up v.0.9.4 of the Staff directory and it all works and looks great except for one thing. The staff cannot edit their info on the front page. I've selected the option on the plugin Flexform for "Can Staff Edit Their Page?" and have set up the frontend users. I see the "edit" link next to the user I'm logged in as, but when I click that link to edit, I get a Problem Loading page error. The URL looks like this:

http://www.ngumc.com/bishop/?tx_wecstaffdirectory_pi1%5Bedit%5D=36

Do I need to do something special in my configuration like set up a Single Display page?

Some additional information - not sure if it is helpful. The Typo3 version is 4.0.5 running on a Windows server - was installed as WinStaller pkg with upgrade to WEC.

Any pointers you can give are much appreciated!

Thanks,
Barbara

Barbara,

That page URL did not cause an error for me. It did nothing as it should because I do not have a Front-end login to the site. But it looks fine -- no page not found -- could it have been a temporary website downtime?

When I went to the ngumc.com/bishop area, I noticed it looked odd because of the Categories. If you click on the Bishop's page, it shows Executive Assistant at the bottom. http://www.ngumc.com/bishop/?tx_wecstaffdirectory_pi1%5Bcurstaff%5D=18. Odd. It appears a setup problem? Do you have two staff directory plugins on the page?

Also, when you go to the main staff site, it appears better -- http://www.ngumc.com/about_us/staff_directory/?tx_wecstaffdirectory_pi1%5Bcurstaff%5D=18

So does this problem just happen on the /bishop/ page or the about_us/staff_directory/ page too?

Also, you should not need the Single display as a separate page -- that is mostly used for special customizations or multiple single displays (by last name, by first name, by dept).

If you still have an issue, a Backend login would help to look at what is going on.

I was wondering, as I have the same problems, did you split the staff webusers into a different sysfolder as I did?

So the normal webusers are in Storage folder
and all staff web users are in Staff storage folder

How do I get the Staff users to be able to log in?

This problem of the staff editing their page has been fixed in the latest version of the Staff Directory v0.9.5. It only happened if certain information was in their biography or news field.

Bastiaan, as for breaking up your users in separate folders, you should put all fe_users in one folder, and then put Staff Info records in a separate storage folder. The login depends on fe_users, not on Staff Info fields.

Hello,
i have the same Problem. Using 1.0.1 Can`t save in the Frontend. The edited Fields are not saved in the Database. Is their something new in this version? To try go to http://www.meinverein24.de/10781.html Login rheinhessen / fussball

Another Question. I can`t delete the Picture (i have loaded in the Backend). Is this in the to do list? I use this Extension for Sporting Clubs Searching Players and Coaches.

How can the registrated Frontend User create a new record?

Thanks Oliver

Oliver,

Have you updated the extension because I was just able to edit and save fields on your site? I added an x at the end of several fields. I noticed that it took a very long time to save though. I think Dave is working on a new version that addresses some of these issues. I could not remove the picture either.

Mark,

I have been working with Oliver off-forum and his problems have proven very valuable to finding and fixing several bugs. Everything except the deleting picture has been fixed. The issue with that is it belongs to the FrontEnd User record, and is not attached to the Staff Directory Info record.

Great! Thanks Dave and Oliver!

For anyone reading this, if you have one or more favorite WEC extensions then perhaps you'd like to help us test new releases. We are working to assemble a large team of testers for WEC software so we can quickly find issues like Oliver had. We test now but there are so many combinations of TYPO3 environments and configurations that we need many different people to help. If that sounds interesting, then please see the WEC Tester page.

When God's people work together, great things can happen for the Kingdom.

In Christ,
Mark
