Subject: Unable to select sermon resource
A growing number of squirrely behaviors are appering in my WEC system. This one is preventing me from creating new sermon audio entries. When creating a new sermon record, everything appears to work correctly except that I cannot add a sermon resource record. The Resources section shows only the Create New icon - no input listbox, no folder icon to click on, no plus icon - just Create New and its icon. When I click on Create New, I just get white space. I am able to create resource records and see them in the sermons sysfolder, but I can't reference them anywhere.

I haven't figured out TYPO3 sufficiently to begin to understand what might be happening. Any ideas, anybody?

David,
Take a look at this post from last week. I think the steps there might clear it up for you.

Thanks,

I like the new workflow for this, but what do we do if we already have resources defined that we want to re-use? I can't find any way at all to choose an existing resource in the new workflow. Is that completely gone now and we have to re-create resources all of the time or will we have a change in a future version of the SMS module?

Once again, I appreciate being able to create resources within the workflow, but would appreciate being able to choose existing entries as well.

Hi Pete. :-)

This is a known issue with 0.9.5. We initially went whole-hog and put *everything* inline (speakers, topics, etc. in addition to resources). But inline (more specifically: IRRE) doesn't play nice with the current data model and wouldn't allow the user to select existing records. So, we decided to release 0.9.5 with *just* resources under the newer IRRE system... operating under the assumption that resources wouldn't be shared. I guess that assumption was wrong. D'oh.

Fortunately, the soon-to-be-released 0.9.6 should address this. I was planning on releasing tomorrow (2008-01-16), but... the upgrade makes me slightly nervous, changing your existing data significantly. So I'm really putting it thru the paces in terms of testing, potentially delaying things a bit.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Regards,

Matt

Thanks, Matt. I really like the changes and definitely look forward to being able to complete one "Sermon" entry without going all over the place. I understand the idea of the upgrade making you nervous - I'm in a similar area myself and we're about to release a new version of our web-app.

It wasn't a huge deal, just caught us off guard with the changes and the person who now uploads the sermons called me up wondering what happened to the sermon record page. He actually really liked the change and if .9.6 handles all of this in-line I think all of us will be grateful.

Related, does that mean that I can remove his permissions on those areas in the list view? I'm trying to streamline what the BE users see as much as possible to avoid mass confusion when they do their jobs but don't want to accidentally stop them from doing their work if I take away certain rights. I erred a little on the side of granting more privileges, but if I can remove those, it would be much less confusing.

Thanks.

Matt,
Any news on the upgrade to SMS to allow us to select existing resources? I'm tempted to grab the latest nightly, but not if there are major bugs in the conversion process.
