We would like to stream live audio of our sermons and also have available our current audio files that we have in sms. I am totally new to this and not sure where to start. Is there anything available in wec-typo3 to help me with this? We are currently using audacity to record the sermons and export an mp3 file. What software will I need to produce live audio? Can I use vine hosting for this? I have found a company that offers free hosting service to churches for streaming audio but would rather keep everything in one place if possible. If there is anyone who has experience in streaming live audio that can give me advice on how to go about this I'd appreciate it.

Hi Chris
Why only Audio? A brilliant way to Live Stream even Video Content - especially in US is to use MOGULUS.
http://mogulus.com
Create an account (its free) and you have a complete TV studio for your live streaming VIDEO sermons available - you can record them from any place / church / home / garden with internet access. Your visitors can watch thmlateron on demand and best of all you can insert a widget into TYPO3
Please let us know which channel you will stream!

Chris,
You could do live audio or video. We have done audio and video at our church for over 10 years and we have done some live streaming. But I do not recommend live. The reasons are:
1. It is difficult to keep from violating copyright law, such as copyrighted music. Then you end up needed separate content to cover the copyrighted stuff in real time.
2. The web is inherently asynchronous and on demand. You will not typically get large numbers of people to go to their computer at a specific time to hear something. People prefer to go to the computer when they want to hear it.
3. If you do this well, you can have the recorded and edited version online pretty soon after the live event and then everyone can listen any time.
4. For live events, more things can go wrong that take you off the air like internet issues. With recording, you can usually work around these easier.
Note: I talk about all this in more detail in my book, Web-Empower Your Church.

Mark
