Subject: IE 7 "Operation Aborted"
Weird problem....
Running 0.9.5 version of SMS. Has been working great, no problems.

Now I noticed tonight that IE7 cannot display the sermon page. Although I see details of the page (graphics, sermon listings, ect, (it seems to render fine) I get "Unable to open this site.... Operation Aborted" before page finishes loading. I get no other error data to help point me in the right direction.

If I "hide" the sms plug-in on the sermon page, then page displays, which seems to imply the SMS.

I did upgrade a few extensions recently, but I can't seem to find what extensions SMS depends on. I know one was date2cal (now at 7.0.1) but don't know if that would cause this problem. There were others, but can't remember them...(is there a way to find out? Log doesn't seem to list them)

Page DOES work in Firefox.

I know this is not much error or debug info, but it is all I have... Seems like an problem in SMS plug-in; seem related to pre-loading of the mp3? (since page renders but does not "fire".) The RSS and iTunes feeds from the sermon page still work in IE7, so seems like basics are there.

I'd appreciate any tips on how to start correcting the problem.

Peter,
Do you have a link to the page where we can see the problem? I do agree that this feels like some kind of issue with the SMS or the plugins it loads, probably a Javascript sort of thing.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for your time.

Pete,
Thanks for the link. When I take a look in IE7, I see an error message about "rgecardconfig is undefined" before I get the operation aborted. You might try temporarily disabling the rgecard extension and see if that brings your sermons page back.

Thanks,
Jeff

It appears Rgecard is interfering, although I don't know why.

How were you able to view the IE7 error message? It would be good to know as I work on fixing this.

I can tell that rgedit is placing a <script> tab at the every end of the page to define the variable rgecardconfig which is the page that rgecard will send the user when they view the eCARD. When sms is NOT enabled on the page this script is complete and the variable gets assigned with the PID. But when SMS is enabled, something happens and the script fails and the variable goes undefined. IE7 aborts (due to open script tage perhaps) but Foxfire is able to compensate and continues running. I'm now thinking something in the SMS is not closing tags completely, perphaps?

Is there a way to keep an individual page fromo inherenting code from the root typo page? If so, I would like to just turn off the rgecard for my sermon page where sms is running, until I find a fix.

Thanks
Pete

Peter,
I had the error message pop up in IE before the operation aborted page appeared. I don't spend much time in IE so I can't direct you to the exact setting, but I probably have all the options for script debugging turned on.

Do you have the wec_ebible extension installed? If so, I'd double check to be sure you have the latest version of it (1.0.2) as it fixed some compatibility problems with other extensions. I'd also try uninstalling wec_ebible temporarily to see if that makes the page start working.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for the additional information.

eBIBLE was removed and the problem still remains. I do note that if I clear the typo3conf cache, the page works the first time. Then if I refresh it, it breaks. So I'm on a new hunt!

Folks really like the rgecard feature, even though SMS is a priority, so we'll continue work to make them play nice together.

Peace,
Pete

Pete,
Next idea before we really have to get down deep to debug Can you try uninstalling the wec_flashplayer temporarily. It uses some Javascript to work around IE issues with Flash content so it could be that its doesn't get along with rgecard. Just a shot in the dark though...

Thanks,
Jeff
