Google has a new service called Lively. You can use it to create a 3D room or rooms. It can even be furnished with tables, chair, and plants. The "room" can be embedded on any web page. I'm thinking this might be good for various meetings, small groups, or just to chat. It could make things seem more personable than a simple text chat. The page does seem to load slowly, but this might be affected by the complexity of the given room. You will also have to set up a Lively account, but it's fairly quick. The site is: www.lively.com
