Subject: tt_news/wec_knowledgebase starting point problem
Hello,

I have the following problem. I have tt_news installed on a typo3 4.1.6. But if I create two pages with the news plugin, each with there own syfolder for the news records and categories and the starting points of the plugin set accordingly, both pages show all the news items, instead of just their own. I'm posting this here because I first discovered this problem with just one tt_news plugin and one wec_knowledgebase plugin. But as stated above it happens with two tt-news plugins and no wec_knowledgebase as well. Even after a full deletion of the extensions and related tables. I tried this with both tt_news 2.5.2 (latest) and 2.5.1.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Regards,

Martijn

Oh, and something else: If in the tt_news plugin I select A category and "Show Items with selected categories" (AND/OR doesn't matter), all my news items disappear, even though I have some items in the selected category.

Hi Martijn,

Thanks for letting us know about this. I setup a test case like you have and found that tt_news does indeed have a problem. I tried several workarounds but they did not work. I looked at the actual tt_news code and found nothing that handled this case.

So I contacted the developer, who I hope will get back to me in a reasonable time. I will further look into it and see if we are missing something obvious. But it seems the real obvious does not work.

Hello Dave,

Ah, at least it's nice to know it's not just me. Can you let me know (through a post in this thread for example) when there's a solution available? I'm probably going to need tt_news on quite a number of places on the website I'm building (not counting the knowledgebase).

Martijn and Dave,

I am sure we had difference groups of tt_news articles on different pages before, even the WEC Starter Package used to have that. Would it work to place all articles in just one storage folder and then use unique categories to limit which articles show up on each page? Perhaps tt_news is designed that way. And perhaps placing records in more than one system folder somehow causes the disappearing issue. tt_news is a very popular extension. That makes me think there must be a different way that works. What do you think?

In Him,
Mark

Hello Mark,

I don't think putting al the records in one folder would work for me. I need different BE-users to be able to create and edit just their own news records (for their news page). Having them all in one folder would complicate that and make it difficult to keep an overview.

Btw, does anyone of you know why I can't find CHC forum in the repository (neither on the website or using the extension manager).
