Subject: Member login error
SO I had someone try to register for membership. They got the email that directed them back to the site for confirmation and all. But the page loaded with "Page Not Found" suggested to try searching for "community/account/user/cfb9245c623aa2ec6ed4/"

Im not sure but do I need to create pages and whatnot for people to see before they can go into their own area? How do I do this? And what all can people have in their own private area?

Jason,
This should be working out of the box without you needing to create any special pages. If you just try to go to community/account/ does that load for you? If you can post the URL of the site, I'll try a test registration and see if I notice anything out of the oridinary along the way.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jason,
Thanks for the link. I see that the My Account page is still working and I was able to successfully register for an account. Once you get home, can you try a test registration to see if things seem to be working on your end too?

Thanks,
Jeff

OK, well it is giving me a problem now. I tried signing up for account again with same email and it says I can't because mine already exists in the system. So I try to do a "forgot your password" request, and I get a message in my email that says "We couldn't find your username for this email address and so cannot send the password... probably misspelled or didnt register yet?"

So I am confused... and I dont want to login with any other email address.

Jason,

It may be that the original registration was never completed. When a user first registers, an e-mail is sent to them to verify that they supplied the proper e-mail address. That e-mail has a special link in it that the user must click on to complete the registration process. If they never click on the link then the registration remains as pending. Requesting a password won't work because the account is not live yet. In the TYPO3 backend, you can look in the storage folder to see the list of website users. You can manually enable an account there. Here is a class on FE User Accounts that may be helpful:

I'm having this same issue. I just recently setup a site use WEC/Typo3 4.1.6: http://www.sovereigngracebend.com . I tried to register on the front end and clicked on the link got the page not found error, too at this URL http://www.sovereigngracebend.com/community/account/user/[character string removed as I didn't know if that was private or not]/

Same error if I click on the link to delete it.

The user shows up on the back end, just as disabled/unconfirmed.

Ideas?

Jacob,
Just checked on your site also and I'm able to register for an account there as well. At this point, I'd guess it is either related to the mail client cutting of the link to early or something or possibly the actual account data that is being registered.

If you could try some dummy data and post the exact information that you're registering with here, that would be helpful. Also, let me know what mail client or webmail you're using if that might narrow it down.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hmmm...weird... To throw another wrench in there, for some reason, the URL copy/pasted into MSIE 6.0 works, but clicking on it in my email (Outlook 2003 which opens links in Firefox 2.x), doesn't. However, if I copy/paste the URL from Outlook, it appears to work.

(shrugs)

That is strange. I assume you're getting the exact same URL with a click or copy/paste?

We have seen some weird cases before where the URL gets wrapped and the link is cut off early or something.
