Subject: My Wish List
I would like to produce mini-sermons and other audio messages for websites. This is not an area I am familiar with.

Basically I want to create a regular mini-sermon (15 min. 2-pointer) on my home page that visitors can come to on a weekly basis. After each week the old ones would be archived but listeners could access them if they wished to hear previous messages.

On my wish list is the ability to mix audio with graphics. For example, when the audio 'go' button is clicked and the audio file is loading, a scripture reading pops up. Also, at a defined time during the message, a picture or teaching diagram appears. Then at then conclusion a choice of related links appear.

WEC's Flash presentation add-on looked good so thats why I'm here. But my page would need to look the same as now so I would not be too keen to use a template. Man, I just spent 6 months changing over to CSS. Is this going to be a posibility in the future?

Chris

I have something similar to what you are asking (www.elpasoumc.org). I use Flash, and Squeeze. Check out my sermon section and see if this is close to what you are asking about. Every thing you want to do can be done fairly easily.

Chris,

WEC-TYPO3 is an entire system the allows churches to create powerful ministry-driven websites. The extensions like wec_presentation are one of many features we have to add to a TYPO3-based website. We are also working on a sermons management system extension that could probably help you do what you would like to do with your mini-sermons. The sermons managment system will allow you to enter and display your mini-sermons. It will also list the older sermons for you and even provide the ability to search for sermons. There are also nice options like providing a still graphic for each sermon, perhaps an outline or summary of the sermon, and even a poll question.

You have a few options.

First, for this one feature, the main work is done by Flash. So you could try to get the Flash swf file and place it on your page manually. This is not normally possible with WEC extensions, but for this one, you could do that. You would not have the nice forms to setup the Flash parameters, but that is about all you would lose.

Second, to create a WEC-TYPO3 template, you do not need to throw away your previous hard work in CSS. That would all be reused to create a new TYPO3 template. Please look here: http://webempoweredchurch.org/products/templates/ for the document "WEC Template Developer's Manual." This document walks you through the steps to create a WEC-TYPO3 template. It is not simple to create a template, but once you have it, it will be used automatically on all WEC-TYPO3 pages and you can change it on all pages any time. Note: you could not use the sermons management system without TYPO3 installed.

Chris,

Just to make sure I answered your question. Separating our ministry tools will not be a possibility in the future because WEC-TYPO3 is a complete and integrated solution. The extensions are designed to work together and it is just not technically possible to build a powerful system like this that allows each piece to be taken a run independently.

In Christ,
Mark

Thanks for the helpful replies. I have to confess that I struggle at this tech level so I think the best thing for me to do is print the developers manual and chew on it for a while.

Mark you said,

Thats fair enough and thanks for having the vision to do all this.

God bless.

Chris,

If you you need help creating a TemplaVoila template from your current design, please let us know. Maybe we can find an unpaid servant who can help do this for you. Of course, you will also need to get WEC-TYPO3 installed. If you believe that WEC-TYPO3 is the right way to go then please stay with us so we can help get you through the initial proces.

In Him,
Mark
