Can this extension be used to just show slides (jpgs in a /fileadmin folder) or does it require audio or video to run.

Thanks,
~ Lori

Lori,

Well, it is designed to only show an audio or video. That is what plays over time and triggers the slides to change. I guess you could record a silent mp3 though if you really wanted changing slides with no sound. My guess is that there is a better solution though.

Just to add to what Mark said, I'd suggest checking out the slideshow extension (http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/search/slideshow/0.2.0/).

Thanks,

Jeff,

Thanks. I hadn't spied this extension in my search. I think this will meet my needs because it says that there is an option to "show navigation". I'm hoping this means that viewers will be able to advance slides at their own pace. I want to make my PowerPoint presentation available from my site -- Should I consider just publishing a PowerPoint Show (pps)? I'm not sure what kind of content element a pps or even a ppt would fit into.

The auto, random, and loop are really cool features too. Definitely something to keep in mind for other uses.

Peace, Lori

Lori,

If you want to, you can upload your pps or ppt file to the fileadmin area and then just link to it with a text link in a page. However, this requires that the people who view it have PowerPoint or the PowerPoint viewer. If they have it, then it will just come up after the entire file is downloaded (may take awhile). You can also use the Filelinks content element to list all the files in a directory. For an example, see http://webempoweredchurch.com/gettingstarted/installing/ under Installing the WEC Starter Package where the files are listed.

Mark
