Subject: lost flash plugin
I did something and now the flash plugin is not showing up. The audio file is there and linked properly in the content element.

I uninstalled several extensions that I did not need which did not include the wec_flashplayer. After this uninstall I then upgraded kb_unpack, api_macmade, realurl, be_acl, ter_update_check, dmc_https, and tt_news to their current versions. At this point the flash mp3 player was no longer showing up to the user. The header describing the mp3 shows up but the plugin does not. Help!!

Tom,
Does the wec_flashplayer plugin still show up on the backend page? Can you open the plugin and save it again? This would confirm that all the required fields are filled in correctly.

When I looked at the page you linked to, there is no output at all from wec_flashplayer, which makes me think it something other than some missing fields.

[UPDATE] I should read closer. I guess you say everything is showing up properly in the backend, right?

Thanks,
Jeff

Tom,
Unfortunately I'm pretty stumped right now. Would you mind giving me temporary backend access to your site so that I can check things out? If its not a problem, just set up an account and email me with the details.

Thanks,
Jeff

Tom,
Thanks for the login. It took a little digging but we were eventually able to figure out the problem.

It turns out the the qcom_htmlcleaner and the HTML markup for Flash don't play well together. If you go to the Extension Manager and click on the qcom_htmlcleaner extension, you'll see a setting for "Keep unmatched tags" that was previously turned off. When this setting is off, any tag that the extension doesn't recognize is thrown away and not used in frontend output. When I turned "keep unmatched tags" on, things started working again, so I think this will solve your issues.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

I went to unhide one of my flash player elements under "messages from FHC" and it did not work. The header showed up but not the player.

What did I do wrong? What browser are you using?

Tom,
I sure thought this was working yesterday, but when I checked it out today I saw the same problems you did.

I temporarily uninstalled the qcom_htmlcleaner extension and Flash output started working. I went ahead and re-enabled it for the time being, but uninstalling may be your best solution for now if it doesn't break anything on your site.

Thanks,
Jeff
