I'm a neophyte at Typo 3... just getting started with developing our site...

Am seeing what appear to be different tools related to Flash:

~Flash Player Extension
~Flash Presentation Extension

Trying to distinguish what the difference(s) are, when to use which, and what, if anything, is needed for just importing a simple interactive *swf file?

On our temporary site (http://www.4fbc.org) we have a small Spotlight flash piece we want to continue using...When I imported it into the dev page for our new typo3 site (as the *.swf file), however, it totally changed formatting. Am wondering if I need to convert it to some other type of file in order to display properly? OR... Do I need to use one of the Extensions mentioned above?

Mary Beth,

The Flash Player plays audio MP# files or video FLV files (like this http://ginghamsburg.org/sermonvideo/article/missionary-pioneer). The Flash presentation plays audio or video with changing charts (like this http://webempoweredchurch.com/about/introvideo/). Neither of these are designed to play a Flash SWF file. I think most people play straight Flash with the Multimedia content element (listed under Special elements). Perhaps others on this community have another recommendation. I also commonly use the HTML element and just put the code in if I need more control for some reason.

In Him,
Mark

Thanks for that clarification, Mark...
I actually DID use the multimedia content element to import the SWF file... but, as I said, it really mis-formatted... shrunk to half the normal size and retained off-stage elements...
Same exact file embedded on our html page now without alteration looks just fine.
Still a mystery...

Mary Beth,
The thread at http://webempoweredchurch.com/support/community/forum/single_thread/getting-started-1/using-typo3-1/swf-file-display/ might fix your problems with the size being incorrect. Sounds like a similar issue at least

Thanks,
Jeff
