Subject: IE 6 page template issue
msn
We are finding a 'new' problem for users viewing our site in IE 6... (IE 7 has other issues so many users don't want to upgrade etc...)

Even though I have our page/subpage template(s) selected properly (2 column: narrow left column with wide right column) the Forum (AND the prayer boards) which uses data tables, are showing up on the page with the 3-column template structure, forcing the forum & prayer board feeds off the page at the bottom... This happened early during development once and we got it corrected... so I'm not sure why it's come back...

It doesn't seem to happen in IE 7

The Desktop resolution is set to 1025 X 768...and browser window is expanded to full size...

Hi Mary Beth,

To fix the prayer board, you can set the width to 5 or 10 px less than what it is set to. You do this by going to Template->Constant Editor. Choose the PLUGIN.TX_WECONNECTOR_PI1 and then set the Total Width. If it is set to a percentage (i.e., 100%), then set it to 95%. Save this and then reload the page to check it. You may have to "play" around with it some to get it working well.

The problem with IE6 is the width of CSS items are calculated differently and so the prayer board does not fit in the column. So the widths need to be reduced slightly for IE6 and CSS.

As for the Forum, I did not see any width settings in the extension template, and am not familiar enough with it to know how to change or effect the width. You may have to edit the forum template directly to fix this.

Dave,
Thank you for the feedback on this issue; I have tried adjusting it...as far down as 70% of Entry Form width and 550 px Content Width and am still having the problem...

I believe it may have something to do with our Custom Template... Prior to logging on, the content for the page shows a right green column. I have set the page properties correctly to a different layout than what is showing... I have refreshed & updated the cache several times and it still displays the 3-column form instead of left column + wider right column in white.

After logging on, in IE6, the page displays the content where it belongs...

I may need to contact Red Red to see what they can tell me.

Hi Mary Beth,

I think the width is still a problem. You may try 500px for the content width. On some templates, this can be the issue. I need to find a solution that works across all templates because the hardcoded one (600px) looks the best but does not fit all templates.

However, I do see odd behavior for your login box. On IE7 and Firefox and IE6 it looks different. This may effect the problem too and should probably be taken care of.

If 500px does not fix it, if I can have Backend access (by email please) to your site, I can see if there is anything with the WEC Connector or the template.
