Subject: Resourse Scheduling
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to handle resource scheduling in Cal Base? Should each resource be a category, or should each be a user?

My first thought is to make the resources (van, fellowship hall, sanctuary, equipment, etc.), calendar users all in a "Resource" category. I'm thinking that they need to be users in order to use the "free/busy" function.

I'd love opinions on this.

Thanks!

Christopher,
If resource scheduling isn't a huge immediate need, I'd suggest holding off for the time being. We're doing some work on the whole meeting setup / management side of things right now and I suspect resource management will be coming right behind that.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hey Jeff,

Been about 10 months, time to check in on this again.

Any news on a resource scheduling solution?

Thanks!

OK, anyone have a suggestion about resource scheduling using Calendar Base? We want to be able to, for example, schedule an event, and reserve the church vans for use with the even at the same time.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

Christopher

Christopher,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We've finished out the basic meeting management that I described above but it hasn't progressed into full blown Outlook-style resource management.

If you want to try out the existing features, it may come close to doing enough for you. By setting up various resources as attendees you should be able to see when they're booked and that sort of stuff.

Hopefully that will help get you started

Thanks,
Jeff
