I saw the e-newsletter announcement today... so can someone help me figure out what this Calendar is all about and how to use it?

Well, your first resource is probably this forum. The extension has actually been available for a while and if you're not on PHP 5, then you'll have to use one of the earlier editions.

Basically, this is a calendar extension that offers a lot of additional functionality over the calendar that was included in your WEC Starter package.

The great thing is that you can install this "side by side" with the existing calendar in order to do your testing. You install it pretty much the same way you do any other extension - as a local extension, following the users' guide pretty closely. If nothing else, you may want to download or look at the manual to learn more about it. I think that may answer several of your questions.

Jason,

Since I think you are using Vine Hosting, you will be running at least PHP version 5.2. Here is a How-To that shows how to check your PHP version.
