Subject: Getting up and running...
I appreciate the wealth of info here. It seems to be the most active source for Calendar Base. I setting up a test site to duplicate an existing Front Page site as much as possible. I currently use a php/mysql script to provide lightweight dates/titles on the front page with detailed lists on their own pages www.harrisonhills.org/index2.htm.

I'm using WEC 4.1.5 1.1.0 and Cal 16.0, but not AJAX since my server is still PHP4. I have gotten FE editing to display the forms using techniques described here. However, I notice the following problems on the FE.
- The boxes for description and teaser are tiny. I use tinyRTE, and the form doesn't look anything like the v15.4 Extension Documentation shows.
- It doesn't display the Date Selector (date2cal), though it's installed. Is erotea_date2cal the one to use?
- I can get to the Administration page, but when I select any button to add/delete, I get a script error.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey Dave,
I'd recommend upgrading to the latest Calendar Base release (0.16.2). I don't think it will fix any of the specific issues you're seeing but it does have a lot of smaller bugfixes in it.

The boxes for description and teaser are tiny. I use tinyRTE, and the form doesn't look anything like the v15.4 Extension Documentation shows.

Cal always uses the the rtehtmlarea extension for the frontend RTE. Could you post a screenshot of what your frontend editing form looks like? I think that's probably the quickest way to tell what's going wrong.

It doesn't display the Date Selector (date2cal), though it's installed. Is erotea_date2cal the one to use?

date2cal and erotea date2cal are both backend date selector libraries and unfortunately do not have any frontend component to them. We use rlmp_dateselectlib for the frontend date selector right now.

I can get to the Administration page, but when I select any button to add/delete, I get a script error.

If you still get this error after upgrading to the latest version, post the error message here and we'll get started on a little debugging

Thanks,
Jeff

Sorry I was incorrect, I am running 16.2 and have rlmp_dateselectlib installed.

I subsequently turned rtehtmlarea back on and get an adequate sized box for the description, but not the teaser. Is the teaser always text only? If so, the edit box is very small on the FE.

The script error on the admin page buttons is in line 316 "Object doesn't support this action" using IE7

I do have access to 17.0dev would you recommend trying it since this isn't a live site yet?

After playing with this some more, I've noticed some quirks...I was able to get additional info from the Upcoming Events thread...

The list w/ teaser template still seams to be used to wrap the list view. In my default installation it was the file that put the page browser, etc... in my list view until I changed it.

I can't get an EVENT_LINK to show up in the list view.

Teasers are saved with paragraph wrappers...they are displayed with para markers in any case...

I can't get recurring events to work, except for daily recurrence...

Why is the small calendar of the current month displayed at the bottom of the page in addition to next month?

Dave,
Lets try to work down this list one issue at a time. I would assume recurring events are probably the most fundamental issue so we should tackle that first. Would you mind contacting me via email with a backend login to the site? I'll see what I can tell on the recurring events there...

Thanks,
Jeff

Dave,
Thanks for the backend login. From what I can see, recurring events are working properly. I left a couple test events (monthly and weekly in place) if you'd like to use those as a basis for testing.

As for the other issues, I still need to dig into them some more but here a few initial thoughts.

The teaser intentionally does not have an RTE in the frontend or backend because its generally used for a short preview that may be unstyled and cropped. It's not used that commonly, so some of the behavior you're seeing may be bugs. I plan to investigate more in the next day or so to get that nailed down.

As for the inability to link to single view from the list view, one setting was missing. Since your list view page doesn't actually allow single view, you need to define the page where the single view is allowed. This can be done in the Event View tab of the Calendar Base plugin where you've already defined the list view. I went ahead and set this up and the links are working now.

I'll get back to you again in a few days when I've got some more information on the other issues.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks!!! I'm able to enter recurring events from the BE, but when entered from the FE they appear to be correct, but do not propagate as expected.

On my current (non-Typo3) website, I use the teaser for both events and news on the front page; however, with most events the teaser and the content are identical except for formatting...

Hey Dave,
Just an FYI that I'll be testing the frontend editing problems that you were having later on today. We're working on new calendar release, so if there's a bug here we'll do our best to get it fixed and included.

Thanks,
Jeff

I'm quite new to all this and can't seem to find an answer to this one:
When I place an event that is recurring and check my work on the FE, the event displays with a startdate of 12/31/69 although I left that blank. The time also shows differently than that which I put when creating the event record.
Also, is there a way to remove the "blurbs" from showing on the FE that are unused in an event record? such as: "short?", "webpage?", etc.?
I'm just getting started with this calendar and am already feeling out of my league!
Thanks for the help, Beth

A question:

I am trying to learn to play with the cool features like the calendar. I will give the Calendar another go after work today, but I am hoping someone can tell me how to edit the calendar. You can view my temporary site at www.cokesbury.vinehosting.com

I have the calendar on there... but I must be blind when it comes to adding events to the calendar... I have heard that it is possible to limit what other admins can log on and change. Is it also possible to allow someone admin rights but restrict them to editing the calendar ONLY?

Sorry that is actually two questions, but for right now all I really need to know is how to edit the calendar to put dates on it.

Thank you.
