We've been trying to get a newsletter feature up and running that will be usable by Administrative Staff at our Church. It's been unsuccessful in a consistent way with DirectMail. Today we moved to trying TC Direct Mail 1.2.1 and this seems to work quite well. The one lingering isssue however is that we receive the following error when we try to view the mailing before sending and when sending it.

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/content/.../html/typo3conf/ext/wec_config/features/class.tx_wecconfig_features.php on line 182

If WEC Config is uninstalled this error goes away.

This maillist/newsletter function is VERY important to our community, but we're not sure of the impact of leaving WEC Config uninstalled. I've tried this in a couple of different installations with the same result.

Do you have the latest version of wec_config? Line 182 referenced in the error message is actually a comment in the code that I'm looking at here. I don't think it will make a lot of difference but it wouldn't hurt to try.

I also tried to duplicate this error locally using the latest version of tcdirectmail and wec_config but I was not able to. If you can give me a backend login somewhere where the problem occurs, I'd be happy to take a look.

I have versions TC Direct Mail 1.2.1 and WEC Config 0.9.2 is that correct?

Version 1.0.0 of WEC Config is the latest version. I'd suggest going ahead with an upgrade to the new version but I'll be surprised if it fixes your issue.

Ok loaded 1.0.0 of WEC Config and indeed that does not change the problem. What version of TC DirectMail are you using Jeff?

After updating WEC Config to the latest version, do you get a different line number in the error message:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/content/.../html/typo3conf/ext/wec_config/features/class.tx_wecconfig_features.php on line 182

The new line number would be helpful to know.

Thanks for the login info. After testing some there, I was able to see how to duplicate the problem on my local install too.

From everything I can tell, this seems to be a problem with tcdirectmail. In its code for previewing mails, some of the TYPO3 internals are not initialized in the correct order. Once I change this order, the preview loads fine.

If you can change my backend account to full admin (click on the admin checkbox in the user record), I'll be happy to install my patch there and see if it works. If it does then I'll open up a bug report to get this fixed in the next version of tcdirectmail.

Glad to hear that did the trick. I've contact the TC Direct Mail developer with this patch, so hopefully it will appear in the next release of the extension.
