Subject: Merchant Account
We plan to set up a merchant account in our church's name to enable our registered users and congregation members make their weekly, monthly and and quarterly pledges online, electronically via credit card, debit card, Paypal, etc. Is there a template, wizard or module in Typo3 that supports this plan and how do I proceed in setting it up? Thank you and God Bless!

Melvin,
There are several TYPO3 extensions that provide shopping cart-like functionality, but I'm not sure how well they handle the recurring payments that would be needed for something like you describe. I don't have much experience with any of them, so I could be wrong. If anyone else has used them, feel free to jump in with advice.

I'll go ahead and link to a few of the more prominent extensions.

Melvin,

Simplegive.com offers a solution that gives the recurring payments option and it works with typo3.

Thanks

Ben, thank you. I checked out Simplegive.com. Do I simply link my congregation members to Simplegive.com or can I create a site page which incorporates their process. How did you incorporate the process on you WEC site?

Melvin,

Thanks for trying our demo out. What happens is we grab a banner or you provided one and we create a custom web page for your church. We then give you a link. You can put that link anywhere you want. Users will then click on the link and be taken to a secure server were they will create there user name and password.

Melvin,

My name is Jason Butler and I am the "code-guy" with SimpleGive. I e-mailed you this morning after noticing you registered with our demo site, but thought I would also pose this question on the board.

As Ben mentioned, our current service is a link to our web application that your members would use. But, do you think churches would be interested in an online tithing extension for WEC-TYPO3? We think that we could fairly easily port our existing functionality over to a TYP03 extension. A downside to this is that each church that used the extension would need to purchase an SSL certificate for their web server to secure/encrypt the financial information. You can find these for less than $100/year. But, the upsides are that the online tithing site would be 100% integrated with our church's site. This would include all the giving information, which would be stored in our local MySQL database.

Just some thoughts. Let me know if you (or anyone) has any additional information.

Thanks!

Jason Butler
