Subject: First time visitor survey
Greetings: I am new to WEC/Typo3/Vine Hosting. Our new website is under construction and almost finished at http://www.princetonumc.com. Our new pastor was formerly with the Medford United Methodist Church and they have an online first time visitor survey that can be completed and submitted to give the church valuable feedback on how welcoming they were. You can see this survey at:
http://www.medfordumc.org/survey/visitorsurvey.htm

Our new pastor has asked for something like this on our website. Is there anything like this in WEC? By the way, I really like the WEC program, Typo3 software and Vine.
Thanks for such an excellent program. Pat Hatton, webmaster, Princeton United Methodist Church

We're using "pbsurvey" on our site to host a survey. It was pretty easy to configure and set up the survey. It has some corresponding export extensions that allow you to export the data into CSV and similar formats. You can also search www.typo3.org for extensions related to surveys.

You can see our survey here (probably going down soon, but still...):

Hello Peter: Here I am, back again. I visited your site. Thanks.
I have installed the extension pbsurvey 1.2.1 and pubsurveyexport 1.0.5 to my site and created the questionnaire. It's hidden from view for now. Here's my question: I can't find documentation for how the results are handled. I assume in the storage folder I created. But how to I export them to an excel comma separated file? Maybe you can give me advice based on your experience or point me in the direction to find the documentation? Thanks. Pat

No worries. When you're in the back-end, you should see an option called "Questionaire" in the left-hand column. Click on that, then click on your storage folder. Check off the options as appropriate to you. I usually use CSV, all rows, and "Combine columns" (at the very end). We didn't link this particular survey to user accounts so we left that off. If you have these linked to specific people you may want to change those options.

If you don't see that Questionaire option, you may want to check to see if the "export" extension is installed/active. You shouldn't have too much trouble from there. This is definitely a back-end function at the moment, though.

Thanks Peter: A couple more questions. What is Output format - UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 and which do you use? My questionnaire is not linked to any user accounts, so do I leave the boxes under User Info blank? Where is the results file saved to? The storage folder? Then I just download it to my PC????? I can't try this yet as we haven't gone live with the questionnaire and so there is no data yet. I'm just curious.
Thanks!!!!!!!! Pat

Pat,
I would put in a dummy survey entry so you can try this. You can delete it from the storage folder without too much trouble. I did that several times while testing/building the survey. (Besides, showing some others the survey on-screen may be helpful to get feedback about wording and such.)

For the export, I just chose the default options, left the User info blank, and the results save as a CSV file wherever you tell it to - similar to other web downloads. The CSV file should just open in Excel.
