Subject: Duplicating an entire site
Hi all

I'd like to make an exact copy of the site I created, so I can try out different templates in comparison. How can I duplicate the pagetree? Basically I just want Site1 and Site2, both with the same pagetree, but editable individually. I take it I'd have to create a copy of the DB..what's the best procedere here?

thanx

Hi Markus,

Having done that just recently, I can tell you it is pretty easy, but may require extra work depending on your setup.

To be able to copy multiple levels, you need to go to User Settings (on left side under User Tools). Then go to the Edit & Advanced Functions tab. Set the Recursive Copy to like 5 or 6 or more depending on how many levels deep your pagetree is. Then save this.

Then click on Copy for the root and paste after it. This will copy and paste everything. The only thing that will not work is you may need to edit TS constants in +ext templates to set any pid or other values that point to a page. The page id's (pids) have changed. However, if you are just setting templates, then you can point to the "original" pids and it should work fine (I think).

If your site does not have a root page, and then everything under neath it, you may have to copy all the top level pages to a new page. First create the new page, and then copy them. Since you have Recursive Copy set, you only need to copy the top-level pages.

Hope this is helpful.
