Subject: 4.2.0 upgrade problem
I am trying to move from 4.1.7 to 4.2.0 or 4.2.1. I first updated all my extensions to current except for the handful of wec extensions that require 4.2.0. If I unpack 4.2.0 or 4.2.1 and change the typo3_src symlink, I keep getting

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /var/www/typo3conf/temp_CACHED_ps22f9_ext_localconf.php on line 905

I can delete the temp_CACHED files and they are recreated with the same error on line 905. Moving the symlink back to 4.1.7 and all s fine. I am running php 5.2.0 on Debian Etch with the latest updates. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Dave

David,
Did you upgrade all your extensions prior to the TYPO3 upgrade? There are several extensions that need an upgrade to work properly in TYPO3 4.2.0. I've seen similar problems with old versions of WEC Config so I would guess that's your issue here.

We have a how-to for the upgrade process at http://webempoweredchurch.com/support/classes/upgradingypo342/ that you may find useful.

Thanks,
Jeff
