Subject: Staff Directory Listing not in order
I created our staff directory page and set to sort by Department. There are 3 or 4 users that are not displaying in alphabetical order. They are showing up in the correct department, but not alphabetically by last name within that department. One person used to be at the very top of the list for her department, then I deleted her record and re-created it, now she shows up as the last person within that department.

Do you know of a setting I have wrong that isn't allowing any additions to display in alphabetical order within the Department? I even went in and added another record of "Test Next" within the Adult Ministries department and it shows up before her record-but still not in alphabetical order. I put the link below so you can see what I mean.

Hi Krissa,

This is likely caused because the staff users do not have their first and last name filled in. If they just have the 'name' field but not the first name and last name, then the sorting by last name will not work. Also, if they have just the first name and last name filled in, and not the 'name' field that is likely to cause problems. I am assuming you are using fe_users and staff directory records together.

Also, you should make sure you are running the latest Staff Directory plugin. It is v1.2.1. Earlier versions had some problems with sorting. Go to Ext manager->Check for TER2 Updates. You may have to click on the "get version info from online repository" to get the latest.

If you are still stuck, let me know.

We have version 1.1.1 so I do need to update it. We are not using FE_Users, we are manually entering everybody in and maintaining their pages ourselves.

I went to Ext Manager in Typo3, but didn't see where to check for updates.

To update the extension, in the Ext Manager section you should see a Menu: "Loaded Extensions" dropdown. Choose the "Check for TER2 Updates" in the dropdown. Then you should be able to run the "get version from online repository".

If you do not see this, then you must be using an older version of TYPO3. If so, let me know what version and I can investigate.

You should see the "Check for TER2 Updates". I tried it on v4.1.2 and it was there. If you cannot find it, then go to Ext Manager->Import Extensions. It should say Look or list ALL extensions. First click on the Retrieve/Update button. This will get the latest extensions -- and it may take a minute or so at times to get the large file.

Then, enter "staff" in the Look or List All Extensions. Hit the button and you should see an icon to the left of WEC Staff directory. Then click on that button which will update your extension to the latest.

If you are still stuck, you can email me a Backend login to your site and I can look at it and see if there is anything different about your site/setup and I can advise you on the Staff Directory more.
