Subject: Typo3 Backend Error
Hey, just wondering if I can get a little help...

I installed the WEC starter package and was able to get the front end working. However, whenever I try to look at a page in the TYPO3 backend, it comes up with a Database connection error (http://www.fairparkcommunitychurch.com/Screenshot.jpg). I double checked the database connection properties, and everything appears normal. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Matt

Matt,

From the looking at your site it looks like you resolved the database connection issue. I can see the frontend and the backend login screen. It looks like you need to set the Site URL in WEC Config next.

I can login to the backend, but whenever I click on WEC Config (to try to set the Site URL), I get a database connection error.

Matt,

Can you click around on other features like page and list and do you get the same error?

Everything else works (view, list, info, etc.). The only two that have errors are page and WEC Config.

Matt,

That is really odd. Could you download the following file [1], stick it into your TYPO3 root and run it from a web browser? That may give us some idea of what is wrong. You have to edit the top of that file and fill in some info, more instructions are here [2].

Matt,

Yea, as Christoph said, this is really unusual and does not really make sense since all these modules access the database via the same code. It will be interesting to see if the server checker tells something.

Thanks for the help! I was under the assumption that since my web server is running Linux with Apache I could use the starter kit that uses symlinks. I uploaded the non-symlinks version, and so far, it seems to work. Thanks again.

Well, in general, your assumption is correct. However, there are many options that can be changed by the web server system manager that can cause problems. That is why we had to create the server checker. It seems to reveal most issues that impact us. The good news is that we can usually find some way to run.

I am glad you are running now.
