Subject: fails to install right on my computer!!!
I'm trying to install <...wectypo3_server_for_pc/>. I download the .zip file, unzip it to [c/server/] (notice no spaces!) and get this when I click on the start.exe icon-

but my browser never opens. I'm using the latest version of Firefox.
Yes, I get the little icon on my menu bar. I tried this first on a computer with Vista, now am trying it on one running XP home. Only curious thing is, I understand that I need to be running Apache. When I click c/server/server/apache/apache.exe I get this message box:

Does that mean anything? What am I doing wrong?

Hi Bruce

hava a look at this:
http://webempoweredchurch.com/gettingstarted/installing/wectypo3_server_for_pc/

Running and Stopping:

1. Go to the server directory and run Start.exe. This will start the server software and your browser will display the home page from the WEC Starter Package sample website. Below are the web addresses, usernames, and passwords.

Website: http://localhost:4001/
TYPO3 Backend: http://localhost:4001/typo3/
Administrator - username: admin and password: wec
Simplified Administrator - username: basicadmin and password: wec
Simplified Content Editor - username: basicuser and password: wec
Install Tool - password: wec
PHPMyAdmin: http://localhost:4001/phpmyadmin/ (not typically needed)

Just Open your Browser and Point it to http://localhost:4001/

Shalom

Bruce,

You only need to run start.exe. This program runs both Apache and MySQL. It stops them as well by right clicking on the icon. It can take awhile to run and stop depending on your computer's speed.

Your browser should open automatically, but if not, please try what Manfred suggested and go to http://localhost:4001/.

The most common problem we see is that people run Start.exe twice. It won't work if you do this because the two will conflict. You will see two icons and need to stop them both or reboot if this happens.

AHA!!!!
THank you both! Yes, I had tried directing my browser to http://localhost:4001/ before, and got a "server not found" message, but I'm thinking that was one of those times I had tried clicking "start.exe" a second time. It worked this time!! THank you both for your help.
