Subject: database issues
The install tool comes up fine, but it's not finding the database after I enter my user and password. http://www.cogkc.org/typo3/

I uploaded the contents of the starter package to a folder (typo3) in public_html; set permissions for fileadmin, typo3conf, typo3temp, and uploads to 0777; changed the references in .htaccess from TYPO3root to typo3; created mysql database and user with cpanel, and renamed index.php to index.typo3 and index.wec to index.php.

I checked on how to enable mod_rewrite with the host website, "Rewrite engine on" in .htaccess that came with the starter package was fine.

I checked localconf.php and it has the right username and pw, with localhost.

It just shows a database called information_schema.

Thanks

David,
Can you check in Cpanel and make sure your database user is assigned to the database you created for TYPO3 and has all privileges on that database?

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks Jeff. Sorry about the stupid question. Apparently I had to hit the make changes button even though all the priveleges were checked; and continued to be checked after I left and re-entered cpanel.

I've been reading through a number of these posts to learn more about server administration and the patience you have all shown is very special. I'm a little ashamed to admit that it's a virtue I've always struggled with, but God willing, some of you will rub off.

David,

Thanks for serving. We are all learning and we all mess up now and then. In my book Web-Empower Your Church I say that creating an excellent web ministry is more about persistence than it is about brilliance. So, thank you for your persistence and willingness to learn something new and willingness to ask when you have a question. I am pleased to hear that you are progressing. My God bless your efforts to serve Him.

In Christ,
Mark
