Subject: Using a temp site
I have just set gotten WEC installed on our VineHosting account. They have set us up with a temporary subdomain on the vinhosting site (i.e. mychurchsite.vinehosting.com) We have a domain name that was given to Vine when we ordered the account, but asked them to set up the temp domain instead of transferring since we're still in the development phase and don't want to disrupt a functioning existing site, nor make our development site easy for members to accidentally use.

Problem is, the WEC installation seems to have made heavy use of the permanent domain name for paths to things like images and other assets, so the site comes up as text only, with tons of errors (unfound files) and no formatting to speak of. I can't figure out if there's a way to correct this from within cpanel, but if anyone knows how I'd be obliged.

In short- I need to get WEC setup and completely self-contained on mychurchsite.vinehosting.com, but when I install WEC to mychurchsite.vinehosting.com, it still points many parts of the site to mychurchsite.org

Thanks,

Jay

Jay,
To accomplish this, you'll want to set your temporary domain (mychurchsite.vinehosting.com) in the WEC Constants. You can set this by going to Web->WEC Config and Edit Site Constants. This will let you do all your development with a working site and then when you get ready to launch you can change the WEC Constants for Site URL to point to the permanent domain (mychurchsite.com) instead. When you make this change, everything on the site should just work with the new domain.

Hope that helps

Jeff
