Subject: Host transfer???
If you choose a host for your site and decide that it is not working for some reason or another, how hard is it to go to a transfer to a different Typo3 host? Will you have to redo everything again?

Harry -

This generally depends upon the hosting provider.
If you are able to complete an export of your MySQL database - as well as
complete an SCP or an FTP transfer (or backup) of your home directory and all its contents moving - although in some cases a bit complex - is possible.

I would begin with asking your hosting provider for a backup of your website -
all contents - DataBase and Home Directory.

Now being the end of the year may be a good time to ask for this - Larger Hosting providers are accustomed to these requests at the end of the year as it is the policy for many Corporations and even some non-profits to have a complete snap-shot of their site at the end of the year.

What control panel does your hosting provider use ?
There are some tools we have in place @ Vine to attempt grabbing the entire site including the database - its a tricky process however with some elbow grease - it works most of the time.

Hello Glen and thank you for your response.
I am really running into a data space problem. I would like to use Vine as a Host but you guys only offer 2GB of storage space. We currently have 1.5GB of space already. I was thinking it would nice to have an increase. Do you think it is possible to have an increase with your company and if so how much more would it cost?

The control panel is a web-based application that lets you perform admin functions on your server...things like creating email accounts and setting up databases. If you've already installed the WEC Starter Package on a live webserver, you probably used a control panel to create the database.

A couple of the more popular control panels are cPanel (http://www.cpanel.net), Webmin (http://www.webmin.com), and Plesk (http://www.swsoft.com/).

Hope that helps

Jeff
