The WEC Readiness Check has 15 questions that result in scores in 5 areas of readiness: Computer Skills, Internet User Skills, Team Readiness, Web Ministry Skills, and Readiness to Web-Empower. Average scores between 1 and 5 are computed for each category and for the total.

We (We = the people who will work on our website) each have access to a computer connected to the internet.

We know the basics on how to use a computer.

We know how to use e-mail and can run a web browser to access the internet.

We are comfortable with locating websites and browsing websites on the internet.

Once we are viewing a website, we know how to navigate by clicking on links and using menus.

We can fill out a web form with many different fields and then submit it. For example, we could fill out a web form to register for a website account by providing name, address, e-mail address, etc. and then clicking on the button to submit the form.

The pastor/leaders in my church or ministry believe we should do web ministry even if they do not fully understand it.

We can get the information (text content and photos) needed to create and maintain our website.

I may not have all the skills for web ministry (writing, photography, media, computers, web, etc.) but we have people who can help.

We have experience working on a church or ministry website (or another website) that will help us understand the process of creating a web ministry.

We have a sense of what information needs to be placed on our website and how it should be organized.

We are prepared to review and select the kinds of interactive features (like prayer requests, a blog, and forums) that our church or ministry should have on the website.

We do not want a simple static website that is updated occasionally. When we are ready, we want to include online ministry features that build community and enhance many of the ministries in our church. We want a web-empowered church.

We are committed to the work required to have a ministry website and understand that web ministry requires an ongoing commitment of time and resources.

We understand that web ministry is new. Therefore, at times, the software may be difficult to use or there may be software errors that we must work around. But we are willing to do this because of the potential to increase our ministry impact via our web ministry.
