Beliefs

Holy Spirit Driven

We believe that the Web-Empowered Church is a movement of the Holy Spirit upon followers of Jesus Christ to amplify the impact of the Church in the world. Throughout the planning, creation, and execution of the WEC, we have consistently seen God’s provision and touch on all that we do toward the WEC. Our role is that of humble servants of Jesus Christ who have been called and blessed to carry out His mission. Simply put, this is a God thing. As a result, we look for and anticipate the leading of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of the WEC. And we desire that ALL who are involved are sold-out Christian servants. In addition, we recognize that the Goal of web-empowering over 10,000 churches by the year 2010 is a God-sized goal that can only be achieved under His power.

Empowering the Local Church

We believe that the Church and church attendees are God’s hands and feet as His primary provision for introducing people to Christ, discipling them, and caring for them. As a result, this movement is designed to equip local churches and to connect people to churches. We don’t advocate web-only churches, but we do believe that the Internet can make churches more effective and expand their impact far beyond the walls of the church.

A Love for Diversity and Creativity

We believe in, love, and praise God for diversity in churches and diversity in people. We praise God for the creativity He applied in our creation and the creative ways His people implement church. The WEC celebrates diversity and attempts to support and make provisions for different types, styles, races, denominations, and languages of churches around the world. The WEC is for the Kingdom. In addition, we celebrate the creativity and uniqueness of pastors, church staff, and lay servants who create the content for their churches and Internet ministry. We consider the WEC to be the conduit that can present, share, and amplify that rich content. For this reason, the WEC plans to generate very little website content. The content will come from God's people and shared more easily and more fully via WEC tools.

Available for Free

We believe that money and control have diluted the ministry impact and distracted well-meaning Christian efforts that have attempted to help utilize the Internet for ministry. To ensure that our motivation is ministry driven and to maximize availability to churches around the world, we are making the WEC ministry extensions open source via a General Public License (GPL). This WEC will be an open platform that anyone can host or extend without paying for the WEC software.
